about ghostieking

Who is "ghostieking"?

ghostieking (yes, all lowercase like that) is the name of the brand, created by me, Liz Monteiro (aka ghostie). The brand became a persona for me during my 20s and helped me learn how to express myself more and more each day, with the support of peeps who followed me online and my newfound family.

The Lore

ghostieking was born from the need to express and find myself visually in the world around me, and it really started blossoming in October 2020 when I started calling myself "ghostie" as a joke for halloween on Twitter. From there, I realized that this whole persona actually helped me so much to put myself out there and made me so happy for how neutral it felt… and then ghostieking came to be!

Before becoming an art "brand," ghostieking was just how people knew me online, but after meeting my husband online and receiving so much support to pursue my love for making art, I decided to take the leap and share more of my creations online. All of that work still felt pretty amateur, and I didn't really consider myself an artist at all until some friends invited me to table with them at a local art market called Goblin Market in Florida.

Anyone who follows me on any social media really knows that my love for Goblin Market only grew during the two years I lived in Florida, and once I started tabling, I could NOT stop! I am forever thankful to everybody I met during those events for believing in and supporting me so much, pushing me out of my comfort zone and helping me embrace that I am indeed an artist.

During all this time, I've been selling my art online in one way or another and tried everything from Print on Demand to Etsy (you can still find my art on POD sites like RedBubble, TeePublic, Dashery and INPRNT), but when I got hit with an account suspension on Etsy, I realized it was about time to take the biggest leap so far: ghostieking.com was finally gonna leave my dream boards and branding brain dumps.
